Added the next day: I have received such kind comments on this post. Each one touches me, as do the comments on other posts. My sister gave me this quote a few years ago: "When you take one step toward the gods, they take 1,000 steps toward you." Is it Rumi?

Not to insinuate that you are gods, rather that the energy and love in my posts return to me one-hundred fold in the form of your reflections.

Last weekend I went to a spiritual healer. She is grounded in Celtic spirituality, but has recently begun to move toward an earth-based practice rooted in Native American beliefs. We started our healing session outside, looking over the cliff where she lives, out onto the Long Island Sound. We visited her outdoor medicine wheel in near silence, and then went to her meditation room.

This room is an altar to the earth and to all the gods. It is filled with candles, symbols from many religions; colors, objects from nature, stones, statuettes, books, and bells.
Ego was absent during the session. Jeanne "Copper Beech Woman" is a humble person who sees herself as a conduit of collective wisdom. She will never take a place in the line-up of current book-selling, self-appointed gurus.
She used reiki, blessings, prayer and intuitive healing to open an inner door for me. During the session I felt connected with a long line of many healing traditions that have been crushed and erased. Something inside of me has changed.

Whatever it is that you are dealing with, I send you good energy and wishes for your wellness. I like the indian traditions and think you probably made a good choice. Wish I could do it, too.
And Tarzan was right!

I'm so glad to hear there has been a paradigm shift for the positive with healing light inside you Caroline. That is a great blessing and such a loving thing to do for yourself. You deserve it and I can tell that 2007 is going to be an important year for you.

I love the drawing!

I am glad you are finding what you need to make yourself whole again. Personally, I love the drawing. One of the most spiritual moments of my life occured when I visited the Big Horn Medicine Wheel in Wyoming. Spirit was so powerful I began to weep. It was like past and future disappeared and all that was left was present, if that makes any sense.

oh, I can just feel it in my soul that 2007 is going to be a wonderfully healing year for us x0x
your healer sounds wonderful. I would love to be able to visit a medicine wheel, I have heard and read about them but I am not sure if there are any near to me.
Maybe I could make my own.
Your healer sounds like a wonderful soul - a humble person.
as you know I get annoyed at these healers who become celebrities.
I am off to a crystal healer today, cannot wait. I also went to a tarot healer last week.
Carolyn, I am so honoured and blessed that we are sharing our healing journey xoxo
ps- do you have a healing altar of your own?

How beautiful and magical. My heart is with you as you undergo the transformation that's started with this healing. It sounds like a deeply powerful experience that's awakened something within. In 2007 you're going to shine.

And I love the drawing. It feels just right.

I think you said it best when you said "I felt connected ..." During my own Reiki training, I learned that we can assist others in their healing and can be conduits for the healing energy, but that we each actually heal ourselves by manifesting the healing energy we receive and being open to receiving it. A non-believer who is not open to healing is less likely to heal. I believe there is Universal Truth that links together various spiritualities, whether Celtic, Native American/shaman, Catholic, Judaism, etc. Your healer sounds like a wonderfully connected spirit. How terrific to have her help in your healing!

I have my own outdoor medicine wheel - they are wonderful things to be in - I'm glad you had such a positive experience of one and of a healer who works with one!
