cane

My knee is still the center of my universe. I went out and bought a cane, which has helped a lot. Walking from my car to my house is a real project. We live on a rambling estate with lots of trees and grass and wild plants. The dogs always greet me at the car and escort me to the house. I really love that.

At night it's so dark that I have to use the light of the moon to navigate my way.

This is the photographic view.

This is the view of our back yard. It is a channel that feeds from the Long Island Sound.
Sometimes it's hard living in an old house like this. There are mice and spiders. The phone lines get soaked. The furnace breaks down. Cars get stuck in the mud and snow. There are ticks. The well runs dry at inconvenient times. But this back yard outweight all of that.

You live in a magickal land Caroline! That's a long walk with a hurt knee though. I've been thinking about you a lot, missing your online presence but I understand 100% about the need for self care.

That backyard still amazes me...wow...

Mice would scare me!
The view is beautiful though; very peaceful.
I hope your knee feels better soon.

Personally, I think the location outweighs the difficulties (except for your knee, of course). Your backyard is just...well, WOW!

That looks like a fabulous place to live - with a healthy knee... a little more awkward without...

Incredible, I can see why you love it there so much. The view would make it worth nearly any difficulty.

I hope your knee starts feeling better very soon.

How lovely and wonderful that the dogs greet you and escort you to the house. What could be better than that!

Hope your knee improves and the center of your universe can slowly pivot elsewhere.

Hope your knee improves 100% soon. :)

One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is the beautiful surroundings of some of the people whose blogs I read. The geography is just stunning. Sometimes I sit here and look at the pictures for several minutes.

Beautiful place!

OMGosh what a beautiful view! I have a similar one near where I live, that I like to go to when I need to think, destress, but I have to drive there (not too far). How fortunate you are to be able to look out and see that!!! I LOVE older houses too, that is a great house..... Hoping your knee gets better soon!

That view is fabulous! I, however, don't think even with that view I could take the mice, spiders or ticks....I am not good with crawly things. It looks like a great house though.
